First Week of School 2011

Here is Cassie the first week of school 2011!
She is now in the 5th Grade! So weird to
think that my baby is that grown-up. She
loves school and her teacher Mr. Teague. He
was also Parker's teacher for 5th grade. She was
asked to write a few things that she liked about
school and what she didn't like. I read what she
wrote and had to laugh. She said she didn't like
when he compared her to Parker! I asked her
what he said that warranted this comment. She
said Mr. Teague told her "wow, you don't talk as
much as your brother!" LOL ... made me laugh
because anyone who knows Parker knows he is
a talker and does so at 100 mph too! I know the
feeling Cassie....I had to follow Uncle Steve! LOL

This was the first time Alan and I got to see him play in college. When we dropped off his stuff to him at college his team was scrimmaging each other. This is one of my favorite soccer pictures of Nick. I love his footwork and look at the size of the guys arms who is defending him! He is playing against and with MEN....many of his teammates are from Brazil who just so happen to play on professional traveling teams when they go home for the summer. It was a lot of fun watching them play even in the 107 degree weather! Go OBU!

Our Trip to Breckenridge Colorado

We took one day out of the holiday Labor Day weekend and went to Breckenridge. It was so beautiful. I think I fell in love with a new place in Colorado! We played games, went swimming & hot tubing, rode the Mountain Roller Coaster and of course shopped! It was a fun break!

I enjoy taking pictures, it is a passion of mine and I feel tells a great story. My family brings me joy and lots of happy times. Anybody who knows me, knows I love sports and to be active. So with that said the pictures tell it all.... my kids are involved in many activities. Nick (17) loves soccer and is involved in so many activities at school i.e. Student Counsel, Leadership team, NHA and a bunch of other things...makes my head spin so I can imagine how he feels! Tyler (15) discovered Pole Vaulting in track and boy was it fun watching him raise the bar! LOL ...He also surprised us all with his love of art and man is he good at it! I will post some of his drawings soon. Who would have thought? I can tell you this much, he certainly didn't get those skills from me! I can't even draw stick figures! Ha! Ha! Parker (11) what sport doesn't this kid love....this summer was Baseball and we had so much fun this season. He played shortstop and sometimes even pitched. One of his last games the umpire said to him "if there were ten of you, your team would win state!" He really had a great season! Who knows just maybe a professional athlete in the making! (then he can take care of his ole mom and dad. LOL ) Cassie (9) tried out for a children's play and was asked to be in two ensembles! She is so excited! As a mom of four, sometimes I feel like I am running around with my head cut off, but to see my kids succeed and reach heights they never thought they could is so fun to watch. I wouldn't have it any other way. Sometimes their activities overlap and I'm the crazy one who tries to get to at least part of each of their events, games or activities. It is never easy but I really feel this is so important to let each of my children know how important they are to me! Thank goodness for cell phones and texting! When I can't make a game my friends text me with details of the game I'm missing. I hoot and holler, jump around like a mad mom and get so excited for them even when they can't see me. We have also tried to do a few fun things with the kiddos this summer too. Playing in the water is one of my kids favorite things to do. So we have found some fun places around town to splash and play. My favorite is Water World because that is something I can actually do with the kiddos. (Elitches makes me sick!) We have yet to make our summer trip to WW...but my wonderful friend and her family have asked us to go before school starts! So fun!!! : ) Well that's about it so far...busy, busy, busy but hey it is soooooo fun. Just look at the pictures...see the smiles, the determination and to me that says it all.

Just Plain Fun Family Time

Here are some pictures of my kiddos just chillin out. We had a few days alone as a family this summer and it was a nice time. We are blessed to go to my grandparents cabin every now and then. I have very fond memories as a child visiting the cabin with my family. Now, my kiddos will get the same opportunity to reflect on the fun times too!

Summer Reunion

Alan's Family had a reunion in June. So much fun was had by all. It was a nice time to spend together, hanging out and enjoying each other's company. The kiddos had a lot of fun, hiking, canoeing, swimming, rafting, floating down the river on tubes, roller skating, playing basketball, ZIP lining, ping pong and playing putt, putt. Maydra and I made a new game out of Putt Putt and called it Putterzice. You run and hit the ball in the hole and go to the next and the next and the next. It was so much fun, giggling and racing to see who could finish first. With the high altitude and lack of exercise I think Mayday beat me at this fun game! : ) This is what probably caused her to have pneumonia the next week! Parker and baby Sophie both came down with the crud. Parker's turned into pneumonia. He was down for the next two weeks! Bummer dude! We missed those family members who could not be with us! Hopefully next time!

Prairie View Soccer Fundraisers

Help! Prairie View High School's soccer team is holding 2 more fundraisers and we would love for you to come and join our troops eating some yummy grub! I borrowed this idea from my friend Tara...thanks girl friend! : )

2nd Fundraiser:
Where: Chili's - All you can eat Breakfast - seriously some good eats (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, pancakes, green chili, tortillas)
When: Saturday September 19th from 8-10AM.
Cost: $10 per person and $7 per child(ages 11 and under)
If you are planning on attending, can you please let me know? Chili's needs a head count to order the food. (No need to print the flier)

3rd Fundraiser:
Where: Texas Roadhouse

When: Thursday October 8th from 4-9PM.

Come eat at the Roadhouse and 20% of your bill will go to PVHS Soccer. Please print the flier and bring it with you

Visit to Colorado's State Capital with a bunch of 5th Graders!!!! : )

I had the opportunity to visit our state's capital on a field trip with Parker's class. I've never been to the capital and found it to be a very interesting place. Our tour guide was an awesome lady who shared many tidbits of information with us. I don't know about all those 5th graders but I sure learned a lot. I have a better appreciation for our legislation...I may not agree with everything they do but....history will tell! The day was rainy, sleeting snow, to snow to rain again! Brrrrr!!!! We also visited the Colorado Mint...another informative place to see...we were not allowed to take pictures or take any bags into the mint and I found out why....you see Colorado is one of the host of 1/3 of the nations gold!!!! They wouldn't tell us were it was kept...can you believe the nerve of our guide?

The Week of Call Performers

Last weekend Tyler and Nick were involved in a Dinner Theater. They both shined on stage and it was so fun to be apart of this time in their lives. Tyler's play was a funny, serious story line. His part varied from the student of the future, Mr. Walt Disney, child from the sound of Music, Star Wars fan and victim of the Oklahoma City bombing. My favorite line of his from the play was...."duh, it's called money"! Nick played the part of Fred Blatterman....an old man who had a very big problem with his "bladder"! He stole the show....we laughed and laughed at him. He didn't have very many lines ... his was all about his facial expressions and body postures. My favorite line of his was "oh...you have to go too?" after another cast member answered a question with "Oui, Oui!) and then he shuffels off the stage as fast as his little steps would take him! Both casts did a fantastic job and it was a wonderful evening!

Parker and Cassie both performed this week also. They were in their music concert at school. Once again Miss. Chengery did a fabulous job with these kiddos! The songs were lively and fun. You can tell the kids just love to sing and love their teacher. We always look forward to these concerts...they are not the typical elementary concerts. Miss. Jen was involved with "Up With People" so she includes dances, solos and hand/arm motions! They are fantizimo!!!! : )

Parker tried out for his school's talent show and made the cut and his performance was awesome. This is a video of his try out. He is our little American Idol! : ) I love to listen to him sing...which he does all the time.....every where he goes he is belting out a song.....luv, luv, luv it!

It's Christmas time.....I love the lights, the music and most of all I love my Savior. What a wonderful blessing for us all to reflect on his birth.

Some of the Call traditions are:
1. Viewing Christmas lights all over town! I personally love the ones with the manger scenes.
2. Going to the kiddos Christmas programs.
3. Singing Christmas Carols.
4. Decorating cookies and taking them to our neighbors. (We missed last year...sorry!)
5. Oh yeah... the kiddos decorate gingerbread houses.
6. I love receiving Christmas cards from family and friends....it's fun to catch up!
7. Sending out Christmas cards....when I get around to it....it takes me awhile! : )
8. Attending Christmas Eve church services and reading the "Nativity Story".
9. Drinking hot cocoa and watching movies...this break it's going to be a Harry Potter Day!
10. Celebrating with friends and family...a good reason to have a party!
11. Watching my children open their presents on Christmas Day....it's the best!
